AO query

Post by Josh26 »

Hey guys,

I'm just looking to make sure my understanding of the sales information is correct (given I don't have such a configuration available to test).

If I have:

6TB usable FC storage
3TB usable SSD storage
Adaptive optimisation setup between the two

Can I safely refer to that as "9TB usable"?

I'm just looking for any caveats around that.

Where are you getting the usable numbers from? The array has overhead for sparing and admin blocks, etc. I always factor in more slack space then they tell me.

Hi,

I'm getting the numbers from our distributor, they've always been accurate in the past in so far as taking sparing and admin blocks into account.

Really though, I'm just making sure no one says something like "actually you can only call 6TB usable due to the way AO works" or something annoying like that.

No, I think calling it 9TB usable is fine so long as you add the caveat that they can't import 9TB of data at one time, you'll have to import <6TB and let AO do it's thing to move 3TB up, or have different CPG's that default to FC and SSD separately.
