Unbalanced drive allocation across cages

On 3 of our 7400 arrays, we have a few drive cages that have 90% + allocation, and some cages that have 60% allocation (on the same array). I know we could run tunesys to balance things out, but has anyone else seen this kind of imabalance? We've noticed that all the arrays exhibiting the beahvior are 3.1.2 MU1.

I presume all the existing cages/drives were added at the same time and there's an even distribution of disks per cage? Plus all the disks are the same size? Are the CPGs configured with no filters on what drives they are allowed to use?

We have a P10000 V400 and I can tell you tunesys does not do a perfect job. We spent months working with support and engineering to get our drives fairly balanced, they had to run some special commands several times to get our array balanced.

Yeah, all cages have an even distribution of drives and drive sizes. No filters on the CPG; we're just using one CPG that uses all FC disks. Really strange that it's happening on 3 of our 7400's. We contacted HP for support, and they just said it could be a bug in the OS and to upgrade to 3.1.2 MU2 or 3.

Not that i can see, and i have tried on several systems and different disk types FC and SSD
But now the 3.2.1 has come out, so it might... just watch for the not supported RC and CLX in that version.
