3par 8200 patch after upgrading from build3.3.2.135 (GA) to

Post by pazzoide76 »

HI,
I have a question about upgrading a 3par 8200.
This Friday I upgraded directly from build3.3.2.135 (GA) to 3.3.2.159-EMU1 as per hpe document 3par_storeserv_upgrade_matrix.xlsx.
I performed the following procedure:
Apply latest U kit
Upgrade SP to SP 5.1.1.0
Upgrade to 3.3.2 EMU1
Now after the update the following patches are reported to me:
Available update
3.3.2.159-P04
3.3.2.159-P08
Do these patches have to be installed even if they are related to the MU1?

Thank you

Greetings

I have a feeling they're included. P04 and P08 should be disk firmware. EMU1 should contain P10 which is also contains disk firmware.

What does "showversion -a" give you?

EMU1 contains 3P01 firmware for KPM6 drives (which was P08)
EMU1 contains 3P01 firmware for ARFX drives (which was P04)

So from the way I see it, you're good with EMU1.

Same thing happened to me, and I thought the patch had not taken.
Its reporting 3.3.2.159 (MU1)+P10 after patching with the EMU1.
Now both arrays are saying they need:-

Current version 3.3.2.159 (MU1)+P10
Critical patches P04, P08

Most confusing. Not sure what is going on.
Should I apply them, or just ignore?
Why would it miscalculate if they are required or not?
