3par 8000 configuration

Hi All

I have a 8200 system but need to set the W19 variable, does anyone know how to do this?
i know the command but not sure how you work out the number?

Yes, this isnt on a live system.
i just want to understand how its calculated if possible.

I don't think it's calculated.

Legacy systems(with 7-digit serial) it was the last digits in the serial. For the later systems I would guess it's simply provided and documented to ensure that is unique in the world.

So from a guide i have its says

"They both use a w19 variable which equals the system ID used to create the WWNs"
Use the following command.
Whack> set perm w19=0x7E1F9
Note: The prom will reflect the value you set with the above command

But im sure "0x7E1F9" is going to be unique to each system.

i think for now i will just do a node recovery.

Yes. The w19 = system ID which controls the WWNs and all WWNs needs to be unique in the world.
