Hello all,
I wanted to make you aware of a new product (PerfectStorage) to automate the space reclamation of thin provisioned drives (in both physical and virtual environments). We had several 3PAR users in our beta test and the biggest benefits conveyed were 1) time savings 2) ability to predict how much space can be reclaimed and 3) delay of new storage acquisitions. A key feature is the ability to replace SDelete and not requiring applications to be shut down, as with SDelete.

Thanks for the post Joe,
I've checked out the links, is this a windows only solution? What about linux, aix, solaris, hp-ux etc?

Re: Automated thin-provisioning space reclamation
Are there additional features besides the Windows 2012 build-in space reclamation?

Re: Automated thin-provisioning space reclamation
Dear Richard,
My understanding is Windows 2012 is supporting UNMAP command natively and 3PAR can reclaim space using “Thin Persistenceâ€. Any idea this will work on VMware and Linux?
Regards,
Fawaz

Re: Automated thin-provisioning space reclamation
I know VMWARE supports T10 Unmapp as well, I have not heard of AIX or Linux supporting this yet.
