First Post here....question regarding creategroupsv command

First time posting here...hoping I can find some information.
I have recently become the Storage Administrator here in my company. We are working with a 3Par F400, running 3.1.1
We have finally migrated all our systems from the E200 over to the F400, and now we want to start looking at snapshots.
We spoke with our SE, and said we should create snapshots using the "creategroupsv" command . He also said the we should have the volumes in vvsets.
My concern is the creategroupsv command does not run against vvsets using the "set: vvnsetname" option. Am I missing something about this?
Running the createsv command works perfectly fine with the vvset?
What are the main diffferences between the two commands?
Thanks for the help!
