Failover a synchronous long distance scenario

Post by ziadmelhem »

Hello,

Please I need your advice regarding the below:

We have 3 x HP 3PAR V400 with 2 nodes each, we are using the SLD synchronous long distance scenario for the replication as follow: [from A > B Sync and A > C Periodic]

I need to test failover of one Remote Copy group selectively from A to C while keeping the synchronous replication from A to B operational (for the same RC group)

And then after test working on the C storage, revert back and restore replication from A to C (i.e. smashing all altered data on C while doing the test).

I know how to do it in normal 1 to 1 replication but I’m not sure in SLD scenario.

Thank You and Regards,

only what I need to know, is it possible to failover only the periodic part a RC group in an SLD scenario, and keeping the synchronous replication working normally?

Thanks,
Ziad

According to this video's diagram, it should be possible. However, it may require you to temporarily cut the connection between A -> C during testing. May want to check with support to confirm.

Interesting design and concept though.
