tunevv thick to thin will it use more space during the op?

When you use a command like
tunevv usr_cpg CPG_NAME -tpvv VV_NAME
Does it create snapshots of any sort during the process or otherwise use more space while it converts? I'm not changing CPG or anything, just converting thick to thin to save space which is becoming critical.
