In the link http://www.zdnet.com/article/hp-peer-motion-gets-over-3par-generation-gap/, it's stated:
"Businesses can bring in a new array and the system will place frequently needed data on it, while older arrays can continue to support the less frequently accessed data."

Does PM automatically move data between 3par ARRAYs based on workload? Can you set up a AO-like policy between arrays?

Thanks!

huh? no, peer motion is a manual action. But you do not need to move a whole server to another array. You could move just some heavy loaded database disk to an all flash array e.g.

I'm asking because the first sentence in that link states (keyword = automatically):

"HP has introduced a technology for automatically tiering and moving storage loads between 3Par arrays of differing generations, in a bid to help administrators maximise the efficiency of ageing equipment."

Hello,

automatically means just moving Regions within one Array (AO). With Peer Motion you can manually move VVs between Arrays.
