Save Config in 3Par

Post by divacfsj »

Dear all,
I don`t know how to get a backup of the configuration. I need this to restore the information (all I can) if i have a serious problem with the cabinet.
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance!

I am not familiar with a way to back up the configuration. In addition to being stored on multiple nodes, I suspect its also documented/backed up to the service processor. There is a html file stored on the service processor you can look at that will have all the details of the configuration in it. Hosts, VVs, CPGs etc

I'm not really sure it's an issue that needs to be resolved, sounds more like a feature request :-) Remember restoring the config doesn't restore your data, so how much time will this really save ?

As Richard mentioned the config is held redundantly in multiple locations on and off array, also everything needed to recreate the config manually is available from the CLI, Service Procesor and also gets uploaded to HP every few hours.

I believe there is an 'unsupported' script available to generate the commands directly based on the current config (like the old EVA config backup) but you'd have to speak to your HP account team about access.

CONFIG file is sent to HP each 2 or 8 hours, depending on version and maybe on class of array.
These files are also stored on SP.
I never heard about a HP script to build objects from CONFIG file but it's quite easy to write it...
