HP StoreServ 7200 Installation Issues

Hi All,

Busy rolling out our demo 3PAR 7200, but we have the following issues:

1. When trying to use the physical SP, we get as far as the error below:
Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)

We aren't booting off a USB key, and are using a physical HDD instead. Turning the USB mode on/off makes no difference.

2. When trying to use the virtual SP, after importing it into vSphere 5.1 and starting it up, we get the error in the image attached, and are unsure where to proceed. The VSP is attached to the same virtual network as the 3PAR...

However, we can go no further. Any idea on how to fix this?

I don't intend to sound snarky as I am no linux expert, but have you tried hitting enter, then running 'fsck /dev/sda6' yet? Does it provide and additional details?

No worries, because I don't know Linux at all. This was done and it crashed (pressing ENTER).
However, the Linux command to repair the disk has been run and it seems to be running...the physical SP being our biggest issue now!

If memory serves me correctly, when I was at the HP Master ASE Storage Conference in San Antonio in March, it may have been mentioned that perhaps this was a known issue and that the master image they used for producing the appliance had an issue in it and a fsck was needed to resolve the issue. Do not quote me on that though - I could be wrong...

Regarding your physical server - how much time did you spent waiting for progress? Probing EDD can take some minutes. If this doesn't help, have you checked your SATA cables?
For the VM problem - please check and correct the clock on the server.

Also, for kicks, make sure youa re running 4.1.0GA Patch 001, and 002 but the above should get you rolling.
