3.2.1 and vmware virtual volumes

Post by mujzeptu »

I was told that the recent GA release of 3.2.1 added support for vmware vvols, but I cannot find the proper command for these?

Does anyone else have 3.2.1 or know what commands I can work with? I realize that the dedupe isn't out yet but the VVOLs should be?

in the code just not enabled in GA release. Remember from a VMware perspective its still beta. if you want to test prior to release then you should join the beta program.

Why would vvols be in this release? It's not coming out until Q1 next year...

vvol is baked in the code for this release because HP was pretty much the only FC vendor working on vvol with VMware, and they probably were ready to get it into the production code train.

They also will want it to be ready to go when VMware releases GA vsphere 6

I went to join the beta program and they told me that GA would be out within a week so instead of going through that process just wait for GA and it would be in it. Ok great, so I did but then after 3.2.1 GA I couldn't find anything, so I asked.

I was able to finally hear back from HP on it and they passed along the directions.
