Hi everybody,
I got a StoreServ 7200 as field-integration, which means that I got an unmanageable number of boxes with parts. Is there anything to consider before adding the HBAs to the StoreServ? It's an uninitialized system.
Thanks for advice.
Best regards,
Patrick
Add 4 Port HBA to StoreServ 7200
Re: Add 4 Port HBA to StoreServ 7200
I am not certain this is "law".
But i was told the following when installing ours:
Your allowed to rack the sytem, and insert disks (following the guidelines in http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdi ... 6625-9.pdf)
The techinican prefered to do the cabling on the back chassis, since he had seen several issues with customers cabling them wrong.
And i was _not_ allowed to insert the HBAs into the controllers. Apparently that required a certified Tech.
If its like that in the US i cannot say, but that was what i was told here in Denmark.

Hi,
thanks for your reply. The StoreServ 7000 is sold with the label "customers self install". It's nice to have a startup support, but I can't see why it's so hard to read the cabling guide for the StoreServ, which exactly describes to possible and supported cablings. And I also can't see, why it's such a voodoo thing to add a HBA to a controller node. I understand that this is a bit different, if it's a running and productive system. But this system is a field-integration.
Mhh... I will ask HP what they recommend.
Best regards,
Patrick

I totally agree, and your milage may vary.
The Person who told me was a 3rd party HP ASP, so im not sure if it directly correlates with HPs Danish Divisions Policies.
It might also vary from country to country depending on the support organisation.
Best just to ask HP

Our 7400 was installed by HP... they installed the extra HBAs before assembling and power up. Hope that helps.
