Hi Guys
Currently I am in a setup planning and struck up with a challenge on the different VLAN for HP 3PAR & Service Processor/Inform console server.
HP 3PAR 7200 with x.x.1011.x IP, so we can say VLAN 1011
Virtsual Service processor (VM) & Inform console server (VM) with x.x.1012.x IP, so we can say that VLAN 1012.
Currently there is no communication between 1011 VLAN & 1012 VLAN.
Can someone advise with the ports which should be open between these devices.
Inform Console server will also be used in future for installing CLI client and System reported.
New Setup- HP 3PAR,VSP,Inform Console diff VLAN
Re: New Setup- HP 3PAR,VSP,Inform Console diff VLAN
Considering IPv4 addresses only go to 255 per octet you're going to have a major problem with your plan. Also AFAIR it's not supported to have the SP and storage on different vlans.

Hi , Thanks for the reply.
When I look at site planning guide here is the statement as mentioned there, so its bit confusing that what should be actually.
In the planning guide you will find under the Service Processor Connectivity section the statement – “The SP needs to be on the same subnet as the storage system.[/size]â€
You can also find under the section detailing the Private Network Topology the statement that reads “With a private network topology, both the storage system and SP reside on the same private network segment of the customer local area network. All management workstations used to administer the system must also reside on the same private network segment.â€
Saying that however, if you wish to place the VSP and Storage system on different IP networks or you wish to place then on different sides of an IP firewall, you would need to ensure that the following ports are open. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that network communication between the two is correct.
· Port 22 (SSH)–Used for depositing and executing programmatically driven service scripts and for collecting an archive of diagnostic data (known as an InSplore).
Port 2540 (CLI)–Used for gathering system health information, configuration data, and performance data.
Port 5781 (Event Monitor)–Used for monitoring system events on the StoreServ Storage system.
