Why do you need the password for 3parvar?
Hp change the password regularly now due to too many people knowing the passwords and posting them online.
I had a right game getting them to tell me the root password the other day when they thought I was a customer.

spvar should not be used by end-users, its a service partner account.
3paradm and 3parcust should be sufficient

Refer them to their own guide on the matter:

It's quite contradictory really as it says it's only used by hp personnel and authorised service partners, so why have the customer know the password.
My experience is that hp use the spdood username to do anything maintenance related.
Re: 3par 10800 spvar password after upgrading to 3.1.3 P01
It is not just HP personnel serving the 3PAR system.
Authorised service partners don't have access to the spdood account.
They should use spvar

I'm not aware of anything an authorised service partner would need to know that username for in the first place though, without also being joined by a hp support representative.
I know the spdood password, I've never seen the spvar account used personally.
Unfortunately I don't know the answer to the op question, so I can't help any more.
But I'm still interested to know what people are using that username for.

I am not much help here either.
Back before HP acquired 3PAR, all field service was done by a 3rd party. SPVAR was the account used by non-3PAR specific general purpose field techs to perform guided/scripted maintenance for replacing failed components on the system. I have witnessed drive swaps and node swaps done using the scripted maintenance and have been very impressed with the level of detail and quality of instructions that the service process guides SPVAR through.
Today, the HP badged field techs still use HPVAR, but they tend to skip the guided wizard and drop to command line or spmaint.
I'm guessing that SPVAR would be required if a customer wants to/needs to do self-service drive swaps or other maintenance using the graphical html guided wizards, just a guess. Probably more prevalent with EOL hardware and remote areas where HP support is sketchy or not permitted.

Hmmm, not sure,
I added some disks to a v400 and used the maintenance wizard on the SP, and I can't remember using that account, afaik I was just logged into the SP as 3parcust.

Re: 3par 10800 spvar password after upgrading to 3.1.3 P01
Im actually doing an upgrade to a 7200 and a F200 and logging into the 7200 I could upgrade using the 3parcust userID, but logged into the SP as 3parcust and trying to do an upgrade, it pops up a window saying 3parcust is not authorized to perform update. So Im trying to use the spvar userID with password 3V@rpar and 3V#rpar and neither of them work now with SP-4.2.0.GA-29 P001, and P002. Why would the 7200 work with 3parcust and the F200 wont. I looked on SPOCK and an F200 is on the compatibility list for 3.1.3.
Thanks for the help.
