3Par extending Space to LUN, ( Some Doubt)

Hi Friends

I have some doubt in HP 3Par storage, Please help us in this regards.

Initially we were facing space issue in our storage so we have deleted one LUN ( under CPG : FC_r5) from storage and recovery the space from compact command and now space is showing at storage level.

We need to increase the Space in different LUN's which these are reside in two different CPG : FC_r1 and FC_r5.

My doubt if we increase the size of any LUN from these CPG, any bad or negative effect on CPG ?
why this question is raise in my mind becoz of allocated percentage for these CPG is showing 88% and 99%.

please help us to overcome from this doubt as we are not expert in storage.

I hope you mixed up your screenshots.

Anyways.. IMC has been dead as management tool for 4 years. SSMC has better views for this.

First of all, ignore fill rate on CPG level. If it’s at 99%, that is actually a positive thing. Look at estimated free space which looks as the system wide pool to see how much effective capacity it can make based on the RAW capacity available.

Actually I am not expert in Storage and Before increasing the space in LUN i want to make sure for any negative effect. I have attached the screenshot of free space could help to know its safe to increase the space in LUN now see the CPG status which i have attached the pdf file.

Well, you don't say alot..

Increasing 1GB is safe.

Increasing 10TB is not.

Fully provisioned volumes will never grow. Thin provisioned volumes grow as needed. Your virtual copies (related to RC) may grow depending on the write activity and when they are able to sync.
