16Gb FC PTP not working on 3.2.2 MU6?

Post by vigger91 »

Hi,

I have a 7440c with 2x 4-port 16Gb FC HBA's inside, this worked great directly connected to servers (PTP) on 3.2.2 MU4 P73.

But after upgrading to 3.2.2 MU6 P167, the SAN can no longer see the hosts.

I tried the internal 8Gb ports too, and it was the same issue, but if i change "connection type" from "Point" to "Loop", it works again(?), but "Loop" is not supported on the HBA's, i tried forcing it on the CLI, but it complains that Loop isn't supported and the port goes offline.

Do any of you have experience with this, and have a work-around?

Or do you know if it is still an issue on 3.3.1, and thus maybe worth upgrading?

FYI:
The servers uses Emulex LPe16002, and the 3PAR HBAs are the Emulex LPe16004, all fully firmware updated.

Thanks!

The 16Gbit ports on the 7k was always "special" but didn't know they were _that_ special :)

Just to verify, you are seeing the same behavior on the onboard 8Gbit ports as well?

And what is the firmware/driver for HBA and OS versions on the servers?

Hi,

I'm sorry for the late reply, thought i turned on notifications :(

But no, the internal ports still work in loop-mode, just like before, but the ports on the HBA stopped working in loop mode after the upgrade, they will only do fabric.

The 16Gb ports worked fine with firmware version 10.6.248.4 (MU4), but stopped working with 10.6.248.8 (MU6)

I can not change the mode of the 16Gb ports, but i can on the internal 8Gb ports.

Edit:
The server i'm testing with is running windows server 2019 and lpfc driver version 12.6.165.0-11 and firmware version 12.6.240.21, and that still seems to be the newest.
