Anyone had one fail?
We added some cages not 4 months ago, and had a DC failure on PSU and a new one delivered and fitted.

A 4 month life for such a component is ludicrous, and I am wondering whether its possible that the DC failure message from the PSU might be sprurrious.

The technician took the old one away unfortunately, and it was displaying an amber light.

Hardly confidence inspiring for enterprise grade storage!

Thats why they are redundant right?

Everything fails from time to time and things often fail during the first 6 months of operation if there was any defects from the factory. I wouldn't care much for one PSU, but I would start asking questions when it goes above 5% of total (and more than 1).

We have 10 8000 series PSUs, most in year 5 now, and I think we may have had one failure, but that was a while back.
As mentioned I'd always expect the chance of some sort of failure within the first few months.

Generally the 3PAR kit has been solid, in 10+ years I've only seen a couple of PSUs, some DIMMs, couple of SFPs/cards and a lot of 15k disks fail (SSDs have been a lot better). None of them have caused any outage. ;)
