"Internal" storage

Post by Josh26 »

Hi,

In line with the other thread I just posted - I'm interested in best utilising FC storage.

In the IMC, under "System", then "capacity":

The Nearline section has a reasonably large "system" allocation, which expands to "Internal: 0GB" and a large "spare".
The Fast Class section also has a reasonably large "system" allocation, however this expands to "Internal: 500GB" followed by spares.

I think everyone understands the need for spare capacity, but it does the beg the question, what is the "Internal" allocation and is there anyway I can get it moved to our, much more abundant, nearline storage?

I am guessing that is referring to the "admin" lun. I would imagine that on pure NL system, it has to reside on NL, which leads to your very good question; "Can I tunevv the admin VV to reside on NL storage?"

I have no clue what the impact of running the admin vv on NL would be, hence I defer to HP support, or someone with experience to provide guidance there.

Thank Richard.

I guess the safe thing to do here is leave it where it is - frustrating when you see so much FC capacity burned and have so much NL waiting for be used.
