Is there a way to configure loopback on 3par arrays for replication(using single array)

Single Array Replication, I dont think there is such a thing? If there was, its not the most efficient way to replicate data on the same array.

Snapshots would be the ideal alternative, or snapshots plus cloning. Those would keep the operation internal to the arrays and exclude the need for any front end adapters at all.

Perhaps you could elaborate what the goal is and we can help.

At a guess, (as I've thought about this myself previously) the plan maybe to test the replication features before making the plunge on a second array?

Thanks for the answer Richard.
The plan was to just do a quick replication check using a single 3par box.
So just wanted to know if there is any way to configure it.

Please let me know if there are any alternatives to configure sync replication using a single 3par box.

Interesting. Just want to test it? That seems like it would be a common request, perhaps run that by your 3PAR/HP sales team and maybe they have a lab machine in their own facility you can do a test replication with over tcpip.

Perhaps some one else in these forums also wants to test the same thing, and you two can get together for a functional test.

Worst case scenario, there are hosting facilities that will rent 3PAR space for the test.
