Hello Newbie here!
I have a 7400 with 36 NL disks in three cages. I have a cpg called NL_r6

cli% showcpg -d

showcpg is showing that I have used all the space available... but I have 36TB at RAID 6 so I'm expecting around 31.5 TB usable...So why only 17.8 TB available in the CPG??? According to the showsys below there is 7.6 TB Free (Initialised)...So why can I not see that capacity in the cpg?

Hi a CPG will grow and consume space as it's needed. The HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage Concepts Guide explains it like this

"As volumes that draw from a CPG require additional storage, the system automatically creates
additional logical disks according to the CPG's growth increment. The default and minimum growth
increments vary according to the number of controller nodes in the system."

The figure you are looking at is telling you how much of the space currently allocated to the CPG has been used.

To find how much space it has left to grow into run the following from the CLI:

showspace -cpg cpgname

The results with give you an estimated raw space free and logical disk free which is probably the most useful figure as it shows the space available accounting for your raid level etc
