when deleting large files (VHD) from windows 2012, large increase in write misses was recorded on the 3par 7200 cache which led to increased latency across the whole 3par system. Any idea what could be cause of this . or is there any known issue as per deleting large file on the storeserv 7000?

What OS version are you running? There's a patch (I think Patch 36) for 3.1.2 that resolves ODX-issues.

Could you try again with ODX disabled on the servers?

For 3.1.2 MU2 and 3.1.2 EMU2, apply Patch 11 followed by Patch 36.

InformOS 3.1.3 contains even more ODX-related fixes, but is a "controlled release" at the moment.
