Really, that is a LOT of work!

Could you not do a physical copy, would that not have created a new lun at the same time then?

I would make HP provide me a temporary Dynamic Optimization key.
The should do this no problem because of the bug issue.
Then either run tunesys or run tunevv on all affected VVs. There will be no downtime and you won't have to sVmotion etc.
