Hi, We have a Inserv F400 with 4 failed NL Disks which need replacing with new ones. Does anyone have the step-by-step instructions on how this is done? From my understanding this is not as straightforward like an EVA where disks are simply removed and added.

Could you help!

Login to your service processor and follow the step by step.

Hi there,

to replace the failed disks you should log in to your Service Processor, then go to Support. In the upper right corner there is a link called "Guided Maintenance" which will guide you through the replacement process.

This is what it looks like on SP 4.1.0 GA60.

Be sure to follow the steps exactly, otherwise please call an HP technician to perform the disk-replacement.

Hi, thank you both this is good info however I believe this only allows me to change the disk on the SP? I was looking for steps for replacing disks in the shelves.
Cheers

Clicking Support and then using the Guided Maintenance link from the top InServ section allows you to replace/maintain everything on the InServ (array) not the SP.
However it doesn't always work when there are multiple Disk failures. If all the failed disks are the same type & size you might be okay or if you have all the new disks with you. The main issue I've seen is it ignoring the Disk you pick to replace and doing them in it's own special order. :) The trick here is pay EXTRA attention to which disk it is taking offline and don't just pull out the disk you think it was going to do.
If you've been playing around with the CLI you maybe stuck in the middle of the procedure somewhere which will confuse the Guided Maintenance scripts.
Replace one disk at a time and wait for the rebuild to complete before starting the procedure again.
This is technically a HP Engineer job, I think only the new 7000 units are supported for customer replacements as they've been tweaked to more automate the procedure and hopefully make it harder for end users to get it wrong.
