GA = General Availability (the first release of a version)
MUx = Maintainence Update x (call it Service Pack)
Exx = Enhanced(?) xx (generally a re-release of GA or MU code with an included patch or fix to resolve upgrade related issues which can't be solved otherwise)

There's also a TUx for Technology Release.

For example. TU5 was pre-MU5 and contained the parts required for 32gFC adapters and SCM to work, without the rest of the MU5 enhancements.

The content of 4 Maintenance Updates :)

No update is equal... The difference between 3.2.1 MU1 and 3.2.1 MU5 is totally different than between 3.3.1 MU1 and 3.3.1 MU5.

For most of the details, find the 3.x.x MU5 release notes and read all the sections from 3.x.x MU1 to 3.x.x MU5 in that file.
