Thanks Mark,

I have just had approval to test that very situation tomorrow. Hopefully the Oracle engineers are available.

I will stick a 10G LUN on, copy some data to it for very rough timing purposes, then convert, watch the UDID and get the Oracle guys to check the data is ok and the disk didn't fall over.

Thanks for you help. I will update when I know more.

Well the convert process was successful, everything worked and nothing was lost and no downtime.

Stats
- 7.6TB converted, into 2.9TB with dedup and compression.
- It took just over 11 hours to convert.
- Overall from v2 compaction we went from 10TB free space to 26TB free.
- CPU load is between 40% and 55% with peaks of 60%. Was 30% or below before.

Nice savings .. CPU feels a bit heavy though, do the Solaris admins notice any increase in service times ?
