I understand that HPE recommends offline upgrades for EOSL operating systems. Has anyone done a successful one online? Is this basically HPE being overly cautious?

Anyone have any information on this?

I've done it successfully.

What I've been told is that known general upgrade issues discovered after EoSL was never fixed, hence that's why they will only do offline as the upgrade team does not have engineering support in case of any issues. So basically HPE covering their back.

Not sure if you need to step thru 3.2.1 or if 3.1.3 MU1 supported direct upgrade to 3.2.2.

Awesome. That was exactly what I was thinking. At a minimum, an online upgrade to 3.2.1 was supported once before, but once they deem 3.1.3 as EOSL, it should still work, in my opinion. I suppose going to 3.2.1 first then to 3.2.2 is probably not necessary, but I think it makes my management mentally feel better about what I'm doing.

Really appreciated the reply.

Just checked the upgrade pre-planning guide and it states 3.1.3 to 3.2.2 is a supported online upgrade (as long as you don't do RC). I would make sure to patch your current 3.1.3 MU1 with all the latest patches, then upgrade SP and then 3PAR directly to 3.2.2 MU6. Patching before upgrading will fix potential issues with node reboots during upgrades. Also with jumping to 3.2.2 you can use the upgrade tool which as far as I understand contains the scripts the upgrade teams used to use during upgrades.

well actually i'm trying to upgrade storeserv from 3.1.3 mu3 to 3.2.2 mu6 it's asking sp to be updated same mu6
my sp updated to 4.4.0.GA-58 patch P006 which is mu3 i think you need to update sp also with latest patches.

i updated sp to 4.4 mu6 and updated 3par storeserv 7200 to 3.2.2 mu6 from 3.1.3 mu3 using online without any hassle while the strange thing hpe says on their document that there is no online update from 3.1.3 to 3.2.2 .... while i done it without any issues.
