Having issues creating the credential file to enable host explorer on vmware.

Environment

power CLI 4.0.1
3par Recovery manager software 2.2.0.16

ESXi 4.1/VC 4.1

Running the command
RMVMware VcenterRegister -vcserver XXXXXX -vcuid [username] -vcpwd [password] -vcfile c:\temp\mycred1.xml

It fails with the following error.

Failed to validate VC credential. Additional information: property 'configManage
r.storageSystem' not found in HostSystemInfo

Credentials are fine. Have tested this by inputting invalid credentials and get the following

"Failed to validate VC credential. Additional information: Permission to perform
this operation was denied."

Any ideas where I sould be looking? We have successfully used this in our test environment which is supposed to be identical to our production environment. Have logged a call with HP/3Par and not getting anywhere quickly.

Are you trying to use a non-admin or read-only account by chance? It looks like it needs the specific right "configManager.storageSystem", I suspect thats an ESX privilge?
