Hi all,

I was wondering about the correct way to change a VV name, which is in a RC-setup in sync mode to second site. (PP setup, A/P). Can i change the name of a VV safe?

Does this have any impact? We have 2 VV-names wich are not the same as the Dastores names in VMWare.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

VV, CPG, Host are not object identifiers... So you can change them, without any impact of course.

Hi RitonLaBevue,

Thanks for your reply. So if i change the VV-name in Site A this will be also picked up by Site B or do i need to change it also there?

For a CPG-name change, if you are running AO (we do here) you must edit the AO-config.

The best thing you could do is to test it.
Create VV on site A & B, create a RC group, replicate VVs in this group. Change VVs name. What happens in RC group ?

With Inform OS 3.1.2 or higher AO is on nodes. So you no more have to change CPG in AO as it was in SR. CPG Id is the reference.

If you change a VV name in a RC group it only changes it on the side you are editing. The names do not have to matach, just volume sizes. Also if you make a size change to a volume in a RC group the volume on the other side will be updated automatically (I believe that was implemented in 3.1.2).
